Janet Houchen

Founder/Managing Member

Janet founded Pro 31 in 2013, building upon her experience in public accounting, private industry and public service. She has a passion to work with owners and leaders in small business, both for profit and nonprofit, to help their organizations grow and flourish.

Janet attended the University of Central Missouri where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and her Masters of Business Administration. She is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the Kansas Society of CPAs.

She has worked for the Missouri Department of Revenue. Her role there included sales, use and withholdings tax audit experience. Her expertise in sales and use tax has proven valuable to her clients.

After leaving the Missouri Department of Revenue, she served as an accountant for an international medical equipment company. Her responsibilities included maintaining books for the international subsidiaries in Ireland, England, France and Italy. It is here that Janet found the need to study the French language. She has completed 13 hours of French language and desires to speak it fluently one day.

Janet has over 10 years of public accounting experience. Small businesses, both for profit and nonprofit, are her passion.

Janet has a proven record as a public servant. She has served as a School Board member for USD 416. She served for over 7 years as a member of the Louisburg Area Recreation Association board. She has also served in our schools on various PTOs and committees. Janet is currently serving as a Board Member for Grief Comfort, Inc. and is president of the Louisburg, Kansas Rotary.

She and her husband, David, have five children and enjoy a very active life.
