Pro 31 Professional
Michelle joins the Pro 31 team with over 25 years of experience in private industry, non-profit and public accounting. Upon obtaining her degree in Accounting from Missouri State University, she began her career in the telecom industry, gaining experience with various aspects of accounting including general and project accounting, payroll and billing. She held various management positions and was responsible for leading accounting system conversions, upgrades, and mergers in Billing, Payroll (including commissions) and HR. Throughout her career, Michelle has enjoyed working as a team on projects which improve efficiency and effectiveness of processes.
After leaving private accounting, Michelle decided to try her hand at public accounting and found that she really enjoyed it! For over three years she worked with clients to set up new businesses, performed various accounting services, including payroll, and prepared both individual and business tax returns. An opportunity to gain nonprofit accounting experience and work for a large nonprofit organization, Children International (CI), took her away from public accounting for a few years. At CI, she gained experience in recording and accounting for various foreign entities, and as Accounting Manager was responsible for Accounts Payable processing, bi-weekly payroll and month-end closing and financial reporting. Additionally, she was responsible for the coordination and preparation of the annual budget process and IRS Form 990 reporting.
Michelle is active in her community and has held volunteer leadership positions in the high school band, choir and athletic booster clubs. She is also a member of the Finance committee at her church and services as the church’s Preschool Accountant.
Michelle and her husband have two grown children, a daughter and son-in-law living in the Kansas City area and a son, attending veterinary school in Utah. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, camping, hiking and traveling.
